Mike was a walk on DI hockey player for the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs in the late 60's after turning down a scholarship to play DI football. Returning to his alma mater, Mike coached the Bulldogs from '82 to '00 where he was named the WCHA Coach Of The Year 4 times and was awarded the Spencer Penrose Award in 1984. Following his stint with the Bulldogs, Mike coached the Michigan Tech Huskies from '00 to '03. Since retirement Mike was named the 2021 Hobey Baker Legend Of College Hockey.

Skille was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks with the seventh overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft out of USA Hockey's National Team Development Program. Skille was the third in the group of eight American-born players that were selected in the first round, surpassing the previous record of seven Americans selected in the first round in both 1986 and 2003.
In his freshman campaign at the University of Wisconsin–Madison for the Badgers men's ice hockey team, he made an immediate impact, leading all Badger freshmen in scoring with 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points. He also finished the season as the eighth-leading point-scorer for the team. Skille's goal 11:13 into the third overtime propelled the top-seeded Badgers past Cornell University 1–0 on March 26, 2006, in the NCAA Midwest Regional Final at the Resch Center, and into the team's first Frozen Four since 1992.

Stephen Hardy is a former Bowdoin College hockey player and a retired UNH professor of kinesiology and history. He is drawing on twenty-five years of research to co-produce a book described as “THE monumental end-to-end history of the sport.” Hockey: A Global History (University of Illinois Press). Ice hockey as we know it today, says Hardy, has its direct origins in Canada in the 1870s, specifically in Montreal. He points out it was initially known as “Montreal hockey” to distinguish it from other, similar games on ice. Hardy is also a founding board member of “Operation Hat Trick”. Operation Hat Trick generates awareness and support for the recovery of wounded service members and veterans as they recover from the visible and invisible wounds of war.
Operation Hat Trick is dedicated to Nate Hardy (son of Stephen) and Mike Koch, two Navy SEALs who trained together, fought together and died together on Feb 4, 2008. Nate and Mike are buried side-by-side in Arlington National Cemetery.

A Badger in the early 1990s, Mark Strobel arrived back in Madison for the 2017–18 season as an associate head coach. Strobel came to the Kohl Center after having served two years as the associate head coach for Ohio State. With Strobel’s help, the program reached the Big Ten Tournament semifinals each year, including in 2016–17, when OSU made its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2008–09. A four-year letter winner at Wisconsin from 1991–95, Strobel accumulated 21 goals and 62 points from the blue line and served as team captain during both his junior and senior years. Sue Mussey-Kempf was a gender barrier smashing athlete throughout her childhood and high school years. It started early on when she became the first girl to play on a Dane County youth hockey team with Madison East Hockey Association and continued to the elite travel hockey level when Sue became the first girl to play on the Madison Capitols boys Bantam team. At Madison LaFollette, she broke the gender barrier once again as the first girl to play in Wisconsin Boys High School Hockey history and she was the starting goaltender for all four years. A native of White Bear Lake, Minn., Denny Zacho was a member of the Golden Gopher hockey team from 1964-67. In the 1964-65 season, he notched 15 goals and eight assists as a sophomore. Zacho's junior year he was sidelined the first half of the season due to a fractured anklebone, but managed to contribute six goals and nine assists. He came back strong during his senior season, scoring a total of 17 goals and 26 assists to finish second on the team in points. Jordan Steinmetz is a Chippewa Falls WI native who anticipated playing college baseball until he received a call for a NAHL offer. Making the best of that offer, Jordan rose to the USHL the next season and was eventually offered a DI scholarship with St. Lawrence University where he is playing now. Jordan fills us in on grit and drive to excel at the next level.

Joel Isaacson has served as equipment manager for the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. He also served as equipment manager for the 2005 U.S. Men's University Select Team in Innsbruck, Austria. During his time with the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team, Isaacson has served on teams that have claimed five titles, including one Paralympic gold medal (2014), two world championships (2012, 2015), two World Sled Hockey Challenge titles (2012, 2015) as well as the 2013 USA Hockey Sled Cup, 2016 IPC Pan-Pacific Championship and 2018 Turin Para Ice Hockey International Tournament.

Scott's brother Jeff suffered from the disease, the result of many blows to the head while playing in the NHL.

Dan Plante is a retired American professional ice hockey forward from Wisconsin who played high school hockey in Edina MN. A former Wisconsin Badger he played 159 games in the National Hockey League for the New York Islanders. He was drafted as the New York Islanders' third choice and 48th overall. Plante is currently employed as a player agent at Forward Hockey.

Jake Dowell grew up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and played for Memorial High School in Eau Claire for two seasons, totaling 90 points. He left Memorial High School to be a part of the USA Hockey U-18 Developmental Program in Ann Arbor, Michigan . Later, Dowell returned to Wisconsin to play college hockey for the Wisconsin Badgers where he won a National Championship. Dowell signed a contract with the Chicago Blackhawks in July 2007. On November 23, 2007, Dowell scored a short-handed goal in his first NHL game, a 2–1 win over the Calgary Flames. Jake's playing career in the NHL, AHL and EHL spans from 2006 to 2018.

Erik Strand enters his seventh season as head coach for the women’s ice hockey team in 2021-22 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Hired in May 2015, Strand became the second coach in program history. In 2020-21, the Blugolds secured their second consecutive WIAC regular season title with a 9-3-1 record, and placed second in the O'Brien Cup tournament. Strand was given the title of the Co-WIAC Coach of the Year for 2020; an award he was the sole winnner of in 2016 and 2019.

Randy McKay is a Canadian former professional hockey player who played his collegiate career at Michigan Tech University in Houghton MI. Playing the right wing position, he played in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1988 to 2003 with the Detroit Red Wings, New Jersey Devils, Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens. He was commonly referred to as Randy "The Rocket" McKay for not only his physical playstyle and consistent double digit goal seasons, but also most notably for his "head high screamers" or hard slapshots into the upper corner of the net. Randy is a 2 time Stanley Cup winner with the New Jersey Devils.
